Here is found the famous and powerful river that carrier its own name. It is known as the “Magnolia State” for its Magnolia flowers and trees, both official symbols of the state.

The Capital is Jackson, and it’s the principal cities are Biloxi, Greenville, Gulfport and Hattiesburg. It is a homeland of the tribes Chacta and Natchez.

The agriculture is based on the crop of cotton, nice, milky products. Tourism, itself represents an important economical activity, based mainly on entertaiment by ships that sail the Mississippi river.

Both the Jackson Zoo Park and sealife facility highlights as important attractions. It’s worthy to mention that in Tupelo, one of its towns is found the birth place of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll.

A particular funny fact is that whife in a hunting expedition president Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot bear that had been captured and tired to a tree. News of this spread across the country and was created the favorite stuffed toy for generations of kids: “The Teddy Bear”.
